Whatsapp now Shows Bigger Photos and Videos in Chats

Good news for WhatsApp users, pictures and videos can be viewed in large format: Almost every messaging app or social media platform has a pre-set size for images or videos. This is why most of the time after viewing a photo or video upload, some part of it has been cropped. In that case, to view images or videos in ‘full-width sizes, users have to open the content separately. Although the task is not difficult, it is time-consuming.

Whatsapp now Shows Bigger Photos and Videos in Chats

So for the instant messaging app WhatsApp recently announced, they are going to roll out a new update, where users will be able to view pictures or videos in their chats in a larger format. As a result, even if the new feature does not make any significant changes to the app, it will be very helpful to save users time.

WhatsApp, a proprietary messaging platform owned by Facebook, uploaded a video to the micro-blogging site Twitter yesterday to illustrate the effectiveness of their upcoming feature. As can be seen in the video, if the image was sent to the older version of the app, the users would get it in a smaller format, so they had to tap on the image and watch the entire content. However, after the new update, users will be able to view the pictures or videos in their chat box in a larger format in their original size, the app claims.

Needless to say, these days almost everyone has a device with a big screen. And it is usually annoying for users to repeatedly see crop-sized content on the big screen. In that case, even if this new feature of WhatsApp is not special, it will prove to be quite effective in such situations. However, WhatsApp last month rolled out that feature in the new update 2.21.61 for iOS users. It is hoped that the messaging app will soon bring this feature to Android device users as well.

Incidentally, the micro-blogging site Twitter is also currently experimenting with a feature similar to WhatsApp in their timeline. In that case, it is expected that Twitter users will also get the ‘full view photos’ format for the photos they post in the future.
